Welcome to Nungurner Primary School
The school motto, 'Nungurner, the small school with a big heart', reflects our happy, secure, learning environment.
Nungurner Primary School, No. 4226, was established in 1924. The school is located in East Gippsland in a quiet, rural, bushland setting a short distance from the Nungurner Jetty and the Gippsland Lakes. Excursions to the jetty to learn about the local environment and try a spot of fishing help to develop students' appreciation of the beautiful environment they have the privilege to learn in.
The school buildings are sited in attractive surroundings featuring several outdoor playing areas including playing courts, adventure playgrounds, a large shade-covered sandpit, quiet seating areas and a large oval.
The school motto, 'Nungurner, the small school with a big heart', reflects the happy, secure environment where small really does allow for big in terms of individual care and individual growth of every student's needs.

Parent Involvement
Parents are always welcome at school. Please let staff know if you would like to help out in any way.
Some general ways to help are:
- reading with the students
- attending working bees (generally one per term)
- volunteering to teach special lessons or clinics in your area(s) of expertise (art, sport, music, gardening, etc.)
- supporting market days and other fundraising efforts.
- We will also need parents to help on the School Council. Please talk to the Principal if you are interested in this area.
School Council
Our school council is made up of staff, parent and community members
who work in consultation to the Principal to ensure the needs of
parents and community are met within the school.
Council members are active in informing policy, establishing the broad
direction and vision of the school and creating interest in the school
within the wider community.
School council officers are elected in Term 1 each year and meet twice a term at the school.
If you have an interest in participating in school council, please contact the principal.
